The Indian Premier League (IPL 2009) News
The second season of The Indian Premier League (IPL 2009) inaugurating from the April 10th and the final match of The Indian Premier League (IPL 2009) will be played on 29th March 2009 in Mumbai.
This year, Pakistani players are not participating because they have not got approval from the Pakistani Government to play in India. Expert predicts that Pakistani cricket board and Pakistani Government took this decision because Indian Cricket Team was also asked not to visit Pakistan year by keeping in mind of the tensions between India and Pakistan after Mumbai attack. Though, Indian Cricket team had approved Indian team to visit Pakistan and play Test Cricket, One Day International Cricket and Twenty-Twenty (20-20). Pakistani Player is also banned by IPL authorities for one year for taking drug during the first IPL season in 2008 but Asif denies it clearly.
The 8 teams are taking part in The Indian Premier League (IPL 2009) and those teams are listed below:
1. Kolkata - Kolkata Knight Riders is owned by Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan along with Juhi Chawla & Jay Mehta for around USD 76 million. Kolkata Knight Riders is sponsored by Nokia mobile. Captain : Saurav Ganguly.
2. Mumbai- Mumbai Indians team owned by Reliance Industries CEO and world's fifth richest person Mukesh Ambani for around USD 112 million. Captain : Sachin Tendulakar.
3. Bangalore - Bangalore Royal Challengers is owned by UB Group chairman Vijay Mallia. Captain : Not yet finalised
4. Mohali - Kings X1 Punjab Bagged by bollywood actress Preity Zinta and her boyfriend Ness Wadia for around USD 76 million. Captain : Not yet finalised
5. Hyderabad - Deccan Chargers is woned by local company called Deccan Chronicle for USD around 107 million. Captain : Not yet finalised
6. Chennai - Chennai SuperKings is bagged by India Cements for around USD 91 million. Captain : Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
7. Delhi - Delhi Daredevils is bagged GMR Holdings for USD around 84 million. Captain : Virendra Sehwag
8. Jaipur - Rajasthan Royals team is owned Media group for USD 67 million. Rajasthan Royals is the winner of first IPL (2008) series. Captain : Shane Warne.
