Kolkata Knight Riders is known as KKR. Kolkata Knight Riders is the franchise representing Kolkata city in the IPL (Indian Premier League), the 20-20 cricket tournament organised in India. Ex-India Cricket Team captain Saurav Ganguly is the captain of Kolkata Knight Riders team and he is also the Icon Player for the Kolkata Knight Riders team. Former Australian Coach John Buchanan is the coach of the KKR Team. Kolkata Knight Riders has been bagged by the Bollywood Superstar Sharukh Khan, Gujarat based businessman Vijay Mehata (Red Chillies Entertainment Pvt. Ltd.) and his wife Juhi Chawla. They had to pay around 80 million US Dollar to bag the Kolkata team. Korbo, Lorbo, Jeetbo Re is the theme for the Kolkata Knight Riders. The official jersey of the Kolkata Knight Riders team is black and gold, which is designed by the Mumbai based famous designer.

It is being said that Kolkata team would not be able to play all their 7 matches in Kolkata due to some unpaid tax case raised by the CAB (Cricket Association of Bengal) president Jagmohan Dalmiya.
