Ricky Ponting broke Allan Border record
Australia present captain Ricky Ponting is now the leading run-scorer for Australia in the history of Test. He has surpassed the record of Allan Border. This recored was made on the 2nd day of the third Ashes Test match against England. Before the match, ponting needed 25 runs to surpass former Australian captain Allan Border's mark of 11174 runs and ponting did that not only that Ricky ponting now reached in the third place of all-time highest Test run-scorers and ponting is just behind with the two legend player Sachin Tendulkar and Brian Lara. At the moment, Sachin has 12,773 runs and Brian Lara has 11,953 in their record. Allan Border also praised and congratulate Ponting.
Border, also a former Test selector, paid tribute to Ponting in a statement issued by Cricket Australia.
Ricky Ponting's average is still higher than both Sachin Tendulkar and retired Brian Lara and if you talk about the no. of centuries then also Ricky ponting is not very much behind. Ricky Ponting is just four centuries behind from Tendulkar's world record of 42.
